Not removing your makeup before bed

This one is a biggie and one we’re all guilty of doing. Hitting the sack quicker may seem like a good alternative in the short run, but you’ll pay for it in the long run. Sleeping with your makeup on not only gives your skin a one way ticket to break out town it also clogs your pores allowing them to soak up dirt but it also has some longer term effects. This can range from a dull complexion to an onset of acne all the way to premature ageing. So what do we do before bed ladies? Think of cleansing your face to remove all your makeup like brushing your teeth, it’s a must do!

Squeezing pimples

We’ve all been there, a gross white head pops up on your chin and you can see the puss threatening to burst at any second, so we give it a quick squeeze to get rid of it, not a problem right? Well think again squeezing pimples slows down the healing process and can lead to scarring. A much simpler and healthier alternative is to grab a pimple cream that will dry up that sucker in the matter of hours minus the gross puss over your face and fingers.

Not using an SPF moisturiser

Did you know 30% of ageing, according to dermatologists, comes from excessive sun exposure. Just because it’s cloudy out doesn’t mean you’re not at risk of UV damage you need to use SPF protection every day no matter the weather. Many day creams contain SPF15 and applying to your neck and face every morning is a must. Skipping this in your morning routine can lead to extra wrinkles, brown spots and pigmentation on the skin from the elastin fibres in the skin breaking down. So remember SPF15 before you walk out the door!

Forgetting to moisturise your body

Cold air, indoor heating, sun exposure, these elements both natural and man-made wreak havoc on our skin and not just our faces. We spend so much time tending to our faces we often forget our bodies need protection just as much as our faces. We strip so much of the moisture from our skin every day so it’s our responsibility to put it back, it’s as simple as quenching it’s thirst with an all over moisturiser straight after your shower.

Only applying foundation to your face

This ones simple, but so many of us make this beauty mistake, which can be humiliating at its best. How often are you walking down the street when you see a girl with a face plastered in foundation and a white pasty neck? A lot more than we care to admit. You need to blend your foundation down your jaw line, neck, and straight down to your chest. It’s such a simple tasks that avoids some pretty embarrassing situations.
