Dion Lee’s Autumn 2014 Lookbook

Dion Lee Fall 2014 Lookbook

Blissfully gliding down the New York Fashion Week runway was Australian designer Dion Lee and his fabulous new collection. Making it clear leather is a must have for our wardrobes in the upcoming months, the show presented models in a selection of leather pants, dresses and ankle boots. With white leather ankle boots also making an appearance, we are reminded the overshadowing clouds don’t have to dull our wardrobe choices.

An emphasis on all things Australian, with his use of snake and crocodile skin he created masterpieces as he showed off his inspiration of Australiana. His use of sunset colours, and earthy tones in the goddess-like dresses were paired with silver for an added shine. Similar to the reflection of a mirage, the dresses were an excellent illusion of water and the hot Australian sun.

Delving into cooler shades of black and grey, the season’s collection showcased warmth through the presence of winter coats. With the layers of a typical winter yet the lightness of summer, Dion Lee gave us a touch of summer with many of the dresses seeming loose fitting and free flowing. This gave off a “cloud like” vibe with the models appearing to float with their exquisite skirts and dresses. Although the clothing stands as a reminder the cooler months draw near, a heavenly-like touch gives us hope that style will shine through the darkness.
