Looking to further your career in fashion or simply want to test the water and see if the world of style is the place for you? Well, that’s where The Fashion Institute (TFI) can help. TFI was founded in 2010 by former publicist Sarah Stavrow and has become the tertiary institution for fashionistas seeking to make their dreams a reality.
TFI offers future fashionistas a platform to pursue their career dreams in the fashion industry by combining first class education by the industries leading professionals and a comprehensive internship program – insuring that TFI graduates are cut above the rest!
The Fashion Institute offers students a one year part-time course with an end qualification of Certificate in Fashion Fundamentals (Major in Fashion Business). Students can enrol in the course any day of the year and complete it at their own pace, giving students the flexibility to work, study and most importantly undertake workplace training.
Influential industry leaders teach all of the classes from Australia’s leading fashion companies and magazines in a range of subjects including: Branding, Styling, Magazines, Public Relations, Marketing, Buying, Creative Project Management, Journalism, Online Media, Retail Management, Model and Celebrity Management.
Founder Sarah Stavrow moved to Sydney with dreams of working in fashion but, like many young people, didn’t know where to start or how to achieve her dream. She eventually enrolled in a business course as she couldn’t find anything that specialised in fashion. Most of her knowledge has come from on-the-job experience during her time at some of Australia’s leading PR agencies; having been the publicist for high profile clients including: Bonds, Seafolly, General Pants, Country Road, Berlei, Ella Bache and Sunsilk.
The Fashion Institute has stemmed from Sarah’s desire to share her knowledge and industry experience with students – the college is exactly what Sarah wished for when she was starting out herself.
